Ivy’s story

Ivy ~ Quarter Horse Mare

We estimate that Ivy was foaled in 1992.  She’s a quiet horse who is the lead mare of her herd and loves to have her belly scratched.  Ivy is now one of our ambassador horses that we take to events to help explain the plight of abused and abandoned horses.

Unfortunately a few years ago Ivy was diagnosed with navicular syndrome.  The navicular bone in her front feet have degraded which causes pain in her heals when she moves at a gait faster than a walk.  We are managing her condition with balanced trimming and pain medications as needed.
